How to view Cryptocurrency?

When it comes to the topic of all things financial I like to view things through a historical lens. Agreed there are many lenses one could look through to make evaluations on where we need to be in our financial and investment strategies. I would like you to consider a more fundamental lens concerning the original premise cryptocurrency was founded on. A decentralized financial asset.

Governments the world over and major banks across the globe abuse their currencies into oblivion over and over again throughout history. The enlightened do not want to play that game anymore. The enlightened seek out financial assets that operate outside their country’s currency. Precious metals, cryptocurrency, fine art, car collections, precious gemstones, and so on. So it’s not that I’m necessarily a cryptocurrency advocate. However I do recognize the role cryptocurrency plays in the financial universe.

As of late I have been following Michael Saylor, who has given the crypto space a lot of thought, and gaining more insight into crypto assets. Yes I said, “crypto-assets” as opposed to “cryptocurrency”. I agree with Michael Saylor that crypto asset is a more accurate term. You can watch his interview with Kitco’s Michelle Makori on his definition.

Comparing crypto to other assets. I believe that comparison is the best way to determine value as opposed to depending on price. Price does not accurately reflect physical resources or true demand. We need a better measuring stick.
